Importance of Screening

Lead is an invisible threat. It is common for children with dangerous blood-lead levels to Young Boyshow no obvious symptoms. The only way to be sure your children are ok is to have them tested. The Vermont Department of Health and the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommend testing all children for lead at ages one and two.

If a child lives in older housing or has other potential lead exposures, he or she should be screened every year until
age 6.

For more information on lead screening in Vermont, visit the Vermont Department of Health website.
